PROFILE
Brenda Bateman became a deputy sheriff widow and survivor on 01/15/2022. Terrance Bateman confounded physicians for 26 days as he fought COVID 19 but ultimately succumbed to the horrible virus while surrounded by Brenda and their loving children. Terrance contracted the virus while fulfilling his commitment to protect and serve at the Franklin County Corrections Center II. Terrance faithfully served as a deputy sheriff for 25 years. He was highly respected by co-workers and inmates at the facility. Terrance was known for going out of his way to ensure the safety of both other officers and those under his supervision. During the pandemic when most worked from home, as a first responder Terrance would often say "I can't stay home, this is my job, it's my commitment and responsibility to be there".
Brenda graduated from OSU with a master's degree in Social Work and began working at Franklin County Children Services as a Child Welfare Caseworker III in June 1990. Shortly afterward Brenda and Terrance married on December 15,1990. From this union seven children were born: Jocelyn, Michaela, Glynnis, Randi, Ethan, Judah, and Zion. Brenda is a LSW in child welfare and has been employed at FCCS for 35 years. Together and by the grace of God, Terrance and Brenda raised their children and managed their home while maintaining highly demanding occupations. Brenda and Terrance always had the gift of giving. She continues this God given gift by offering support to other survivors whose lives have been forever altered as she grieves the loss of her forever soulmate.
It is Brenda's commitment to honor Terrance and keep his memory alive by giving back, providing support, and being a humble yet firm servant of God.
